beauty in the details

You can't be driving through southern utah and pass up zion on the way home. Kinda last minute, but i slept in my car in the middle of the dessert. woke up to see the sun rise over the red rocks in the distance and made it to the narrows just in time to watch the sun break into the slot canyons. {check that off my list} UNBELIEVABLE. no words can describe the magic of this place.

i spent the windy evening tooling around SL with garret and erin, exploring old alleys, raiding porch swings in the avenues, breaking into locked up schools and running around the state capitol. i think we got some great shots for the wedding invitations! here's a preview of things to come. i have over 250 photos to go through tonight and pick the best ones...

Three carloads, five tents, six dogs, nine friend, two unbelievably talented lead climbers , one eight year old who will humble anyone attempting a 5.9, one little super hero, lots of sunscreen, yards of rope, chalked hands, bloody knees, close calls, great food, real beer, naps on rocks, three hundred and fourteen photos... and a city of rocks.

Finally! Two good shots of Maddie... She's more of a tool in the morning than I am! She's comatose in the lower half of my bed in the mornings and when I get up to go to work she just huffs an annoyed little sigh and plops back down. I got these two shots this morning.

It snowed yesterday at lunch (UGH). But seeing the white blossoms in full bloom in a snowstorm was pretty cool....

Since my last fancy camera got ran over by a jeep crossing a flooded road in Panama (not a joke) I've been weary of forking out the dough for a replacement. But finally I gave in. I just got my new Canon g10 and i've been snap happy all week! Trying to relearn all the settings. Get ready for blog photography overload soon...
