my arizona roots

its been a busy week. finally posting the pics of my trip to arizona last weekend. its funny how you leave a place so ready for something new... but then you come back and appreciate all the things you took for granted. like:
Irreplaceable Friends | Incredible Mexican Food | Hot summer nights | Freeways as wide as football fields | Long Islands |Lazy summer float trips | and good ol' Arizonian white trash...

Thanks Ben and Jenny for putting us up! Third Eye Blind was even better than my 12 years waiting in expectation to catch them in concert one day. I know...slightly embarassing... BUT I'm just going to go ahead and own it before anyone can make fun of it. But then again, read the lyrics to motorcyle driveby and tell me they're not amazing. It brought me straight back to high school and my first summers in Los Angeles. it was the best show ever — so stoked to get to go with my little brother! pics of the weekend here.

no, you most certainly are not mistaken... that is a swimming white-trash Jesus in the Salt River.
Haha- if only you could see the his tooth. I don't know which is better— swimming jesus or the guy in the tube's teeth and tennis shoes?! click on the picture for a zoom in... it's even better big!

101 things of STUFF

I'm not gonna lie. I love STUFF. i love making stuff, buying stuff, keeping stuff...
but lately I've had the urge to get rid of THINGS i've been holding on to too long. a while back I came across this article about this guy who has gotten rid of everything in his life except 100 essential things, and the idea has been lingering in my head. while i doubt i could ever simplify that much, i do realize i am happiest when things and possessions are simple. When life is cluttered, it stresses me out. so this weekend i decided to let go of 101 things. i'll trade them in for cash or donate them.
as a challenge, if anyone any of my friends top the 101, i'll match them... let the throwing out begin.

All things Provo and a Preview

WHAT TO DO IN PROVO TONIGHT
So Provo has a very small scene but there's some good stuff within walking distance of MODE. A block away at VELOUR, the Electoral College (rock indie) will be playing an all ages show.

Across the street at SPARK you can check out their Virgin bar. Yes, that's right... the sweetest alcohoLESS bar/lounge you'll ever visit. so get your spiced virgin mojito... haha, only in UT.

Pennyroyal Cafe is a rad little cafe/gallery/late night hang out. Open late for gallery stroll. perfect place to chill with friends. Just a block North of MODE.

For a game of billiards, bowling and arcade, FatCats is just up the street.

Also, MODE will be offering an additional 20% off every purchase for gallery stroll patrons tonight!! There's some really awesome clothes so check them out!

A PREVIEW

a crappy iphone photo... but here's a sneak peak at one of the pieces. Dustin, katie and I set up the show last night (haha more like this morning) and it's looking good. See you tonight!
